Fragmentation Arena Trials
OTS have the capability to conduct arena trials on the full range of fragmenting munitions from grenades up to complete missile systems. All fragments are collected in an arena which conforms to the International Test Operations Procedure (ITOP) for the Static Testing of High Explosive Munitions for Obtaining Fragment Spatial Distributions.
The fragment masses, numeric densities and peak velocities, measured by electronic means, are collected from zones at 5 degree increments orientated relative to the munition axis.The fragment distribution is then processed in accordance with the ITOP to give fragment velocities extrapolated back to the munition.
A comprehensive report includes blast overpressure measurements, velocity data, photographic evidence, fragment photographs and data reduction which gives an assessment of fragment distribution leading to a full SPIDER format datafile.
