Ballistic Testing
OTS employ some of the UK's leading experts in Ballistics and Armour and have access to some of the best indoor Small Arms and Cannon testing facilities within Europe at their Faldingworth site in Lincolnshire, UK.
OTS offer a totally independent ballistic testing service to our customers to conduct:
Body armour testing can include Behind Armour Blunt Trauma (BABT) assessments can also be made by a variety of methods. Body Armour, Helmets, Shields, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Suits and material sample packs can all be tested.
In addition to the complete range of Small Arms Ammunition calibres OTS have developed a number of gas guns to be able to fire Fragment Simulating Projectiles (FSPs) or any other specific projectile as required.
Vehicle Armour testing can be conducted using small arms ammunition of all calibres, standardised FSPs and bespoke projectiles up to 500g high velocity FSPs. Accurate dynamic firings of RPGs are possible indoors as well as other small explosive trials.
All testing and research fully instrumented and is delivered with detailed Technical Reports supported by still and high speed photography.

OTS have developed several High Velocity Gun (HVG) systems: Able to deliver high kinetic energy on targets to represent realistic threats.
The projectiles flight and impact can be recorded with high speed video to view the detailed impact process and target reaction.
